Jan has advised on some of the landmark transactions in the Metals & Mining space, as well as many smaller deals, both public and private, and capital raisings. Representative transactions include BHP’s $174bn hostile offer for Rio Tinto, Mittal Steel’s $35bn acquisition of Arcelor, the $10bn take private of ENRC, the £6.2bn contested acquisition of Corus as well as multiple assignments for Endeavour Mining, Arcelor Mittal, Vale and Randgold Resources.
Prior to joining Gleacher Shacklock, Jan was Global Head of Societe Générale’s Metals & Mining corporate finance business, a business that he established and grew to become number 1 in the EMEA league tables and number 4 globally. Prior to Société Générale, Jan Sanders was at HSBC for 10 years, latterly as global head of Resources & Energy advisory.
